How self-service laundry works at WhizzFix, and what it costs
A wash is €8, drying is €1.50 per 10 minutes and you pay by card at the machine. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you walk in.

If you have never used a self-service laundry, the first visit can feel like there is a system everyone else knows. There is, and it takes about two minutes to learn. This is how it works at WhizzFix at 88 Triq Birkirkara, St Julian's.
1. Bring the laundry, sorted if you can
Split lights and darks at home if you want to run two machines. Check pockets. Anything with a "dry clean only" label should not go in, and we can take it at the counter instead. Detergent is available on site, so you do not need to carry your own.
2. Load a machine and pay by card
A washer takes roughly a full laundry basket, about a week of clothes for one person. Load it, close the door, choose a programme and tap your card or phone. A wash is €8. The machines take card and contactless only.
3. Dry for as long as you need
Move the wet load to a dryer. Drying is €1.50 per 10 minutes, and most loads are dry in 30 to 40 minutes, so budget €4.50 to €6. Towels and bedding take longer than t-shirts. You can add time if the load is still damp.
4. Fold, or let us
There is space to fold at the shop. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, staff will wash, dry and fold it for you: €8 for 6 kg, €1 per extra kilo, drying by the 10 minutes and folding at €4 per 6 kg, ready in 2 to 3 days.

When to come
We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 12pm. Weekday mornings after 9am are quietest. Saturday is busy, so if you have a big load, a weekday works better. Staff are at the counter the whole time, so ask if a machine is unclear.
Three things people get wrong
- Overloading. A stuffed drum does not clean properly and takes longer to dry. If it is hard to close the door, split the load.
- Drying knitwear on hot. Wool and anything stretchy should come out damp and finish on a hanger at home.
- Leaving a load in the machine. Set a timer. Other people are waiting for the drum.
